Has the credit crunch got you worried?

October 2, 2008

It has been all over the news for months now but has the credit crunch effected you? I’m interested to know because I work with many small businesses in the private therapy world. Owners are asking me what they should do to keep attracting new clients and current clients. Is the credit crunch more in the mind than in actual reality for most? Does watching the news make you feel less well off? So your house value may have gone down…but are you planning to move? and if so, well house prices across the board have fallen too. I’m really interested in what you think.

The seven blockages of effective marketing

September 14, 2008

If you are like most therapists then you will be the owner / manager of your therapy business. This presents you with a variety of challenges and will stretch your comfort zone and skill set.

Most of the therapists I have worked with expected that when they qualified they would have been a lot busier with new clients that they were. Of course this can make one frustrated and even question the point of training in the first place.

However I have discovered that if you can get through seven fundamental blockages or hurdles then the chances of success will undoubtedly be far greater for you. These blockages are either in one’s own mind (what we simplistically call a mental block) or a skills blockage (you can call this a technical blockage).

So without further a do here are my seven blockages to break through;

Blockage 1

“Marketing is bad as it says I’m only interested in money”

Blockage 2

“Marketing makes me feel like a commodity”

Blockage 3

“Marketing costs a lot of money”

Blockage 4

“I can attract business without marketing”

Blockage 5

“I don’t have any direct competition”

Blockage 6

“I’m not a salesperson”

Blockage 7

“I will get enough recommendations if I do a really good job for people”
